Respect Your Cat Day – A Moment to Honour Our Independent Companions

Respect Your Cat Day

Let’s be honest – every day is technically Respect Your Cat Day… at least according to the cat. But March 28 gives us humans a gentle reminder to honour our Moggies properly. Not with grand gestures (they’d hate that), but with the sort of reverence only a true feline overlord expects.

Cats, as we know, are not like dogs. They don’t do fetch, they rarely come when called (unless you’re rattling a can of treats), and they will always, always sit in the one spot you were just about to use. Their independence is legendary, their demands subtle but firm, and their affection, when it is given, is quietly magnificent.

So, how do we pay tribute? Start by not sitting in their favourite sunbeam. Keep their mealtimes sacred (even if they act like they haven’t eaten since Tuesday). Fresh litter, a new cardboard box, a tap dripping just so - yes, it’s the little things that count.

And remember, that slow blink? It’s not boredom. It’s love.

So today, let’s celebrate the silent shadows at our feet, the tail flicks of disapproval, the 4am zoomies, and those furry 'gifts' left so lovingly on the doormat.

Whether you’re a seasoned cat butler or new to the game, it’s the perfect day to show your respect (and maybe sneak in a cuddle if permitted).

Got a photo or story that sums up your cat’s royal presence? Share it with us using #RespectYourCatDay – because no one does drama, dignity, and disdain quite like a cat.
